About Course
Environmental claims can show up in more places than you might expect.
From words like “natural”, “clean”, “sustainable” and “biodegradable”, to ingredient stories, packaging messages, badges and supplier information, cosmetics and personal care brands can create environmental impressions across every customer touchpoint.
And the rules have tightened. In the UK, regulators can now fine businesses directly for misleading claims. In the EU, new rules from September 2026 ban several common green claims outright. On top of that, cosmetics have their own claims rules, which apply in both the UK and the EU.
This free briefing helps cosmetics and personal care brands:
- spot where green claims may be hiding
- understand why ingredient claims and finished product claims must be kept apart
- see how supplier information enters the picture
- ask the right questions about their own products
You’ll finish with a quick six-question Cosmetic Brand Green Claims Check to help you identify areas that may deserve a closer look.
This briefing provides introductory awareness only. It is not legal advice or certification, and it does not assess whether individual claims comply with the law.
